The Federal Government has expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions and reported attacks involving the Houthi militia in Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, urging all parties to exercise maximum restraint and embrace dialogue.
In a statement issued by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the government calls for an immediate de-escalation of hostilities and warned against actions that could further endanger civilian lives and undermine regional peace and stability.
Nigeria stresses the need for all parties to prioritise diplomacy and peaceful engagement in resolving their differences, in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.
The Federal Government notes that any further escalation of the conflict could have far-reaching consequences for regional security and stability.
It reaffirms Nigeria’s longstanding commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes and expressed its readiness to support genuine international efforts aimed at reducing tensions, restoring calm and promoting lasting peace in the region.
The government also reiterates its belief that dialogue remains the most effective means of resolving conflicts and ensuring sustainable peace.
