The Minister in charge of First Baptist Church, Keffi, Reverend Samuel Taiwo, has described Mother’s Day as a significant celebration for Baptists, emphasizing the vital role mothers play in families, the church, and society.
Speaking during the 2026 Mother’s Day celebration in Keffi Nasarawa State, Reverend Taiwo said mothers remain indispensable because of their sacrifices, nurturing roles, and commitment to raising children in the fear of God.
He noted that women endure enormous pain and sacrifices during pregnancy and childbirth, and that many have lost their lives due to childbirth complications.
Drawing inspiration from the Book of 2nd Timothy chapter 1 verse 5, he referenced Timothy’s upbringing by his mother and grandmother, saying the example highlights the important influence mothers have in shaping lives spiritually and morally.
The cleric added that while men may provide financial support, women often manage homes and resources wisely, remaining closer to children and providing daily care and guidance. He therefore called on families and the society to continually appreciate, honour, and support mothers for their immeasurable contributions to humanity.
Also speaking at the event, the Vice President of the Women’s Missionary Union of First Baptist Church, Mrs. Felicia Iyanda, called on mothers to live exemplary lives worthy of emulation as Christians celebrate the 2026 Mother’s Day.
Mrs iyanda thanked God for preserving the lives of mothers and granting them the opportunity to witness another Mother’s Day celebration. She explained that the theme for the 2026 celebration, “My Mother, My Model,” emphasizes the importance of mothers serving as positive role models in their homes, churches, workplaces, and communities.
According to her, a true role model is someone who positively influences others through sincerity, humility, respect, and a commitment to impacting lives meaningfully while keeping God at the center of all activities.
She noted that every mother is expected to live a worthy and exemplary life that can be confidently imparted to younger generations and people around them.
Mrs. Iyanda further celebrated mothers who continue to serve as models in their families, churches, and society, praying for God’s grace upon women in the Nigerian Baptist Convention and across the world to remain impactful and inspirational.
She urged mothers to uphold godly values so they can become examples others would gladly emulate, adding that positive character and good conduct should begin within the family.
