HOR Take Steps To Woo Investors From Switzerland

House of representatives has expressed readiness to put in place relevant legislation aimed at wooing investors from Switzerland into the country.

The Chairman Nigeria Switzerland friendship group Mr Ambaiowei Rodney Ebikebina who stated this when he met with the Deputy Switzerland Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Lukas Schifferle at the national Assembly complex in Abuja also reiterated the resolve of the National Assembly to sustain the cordial relationship with their counterpart from Switzerland.

Mr. Ebikebina representing Southern Ijaw federal constituency of Bayelsa state highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to supporting Switzerland in various developmental areas, including humanitarian aid, healthcare, education reiterated Nigeria’s stance as a reliable partner in Switzerland’s quest for socio-economic advancement.

“Apart from that too Nigerians and Switzerland have been friends for quite some decades and there has also been business relationship between the citizens of both countries. We have a lot of business activities with the Swiss in Lagos,” he said.

“We also want to look at areas where legislations are not too friendly to the Switzerland business men in this country. Where we need to assist them through legislation we will assist them so that Switzerland businesses in this country can thrive well”.

“Another area is to see how we can create a kind of bilateral relationship between both countries through the parliament, ideas we need to get from Switzerland so that we get them to foster the economic growth of the country”.

“We realize a lot of opportunities that have been lagging behind that are open to Nigerians. You can see that that friendship group is achieving the desired results.”

Deputy Head of Mission, Counselor Lukas Schifferle underscored the robust and evolving relationship between Switzerland and Nigeria with focus on diplomacy, trade, and development.

He also touched upon the growing economic ties between Switzerland and Nigeria, noting the presence of Swiss companies investing in Nigeria’s diverse sectors and emphasized the mutual benefits of such partnerships, which contributes to job creation, technology transfer, and economic growth in both countries.

Furthermore, Schifferle expressed Switzerland’s interest in expanding cultural exchanges and promoting people-to-people connections between the two nations.
