todayJuly 16, 2026

Background

The Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2027 general election, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the founder and leader of All Christians Fellowship (ACF), Abuja, Rev. William Okoye, describing him as one of Nigeria’s foremost Christian leaders and moral voices.

A statement, signed by him in Abuja says the late cleric dedicated his life to the service of God, the unity of the Christian faith, and the moral transformation of Nigeria.

The statement notes that Rev. Okoye’s ministry transcended denominational boundaries and inspired countless believers to embrace holiness, integrity and selfless service to humanity.

According to Prince Adebayo, the deceased remained a strong advocate of truth, peace, justice and national reconciliation, while also playing a significant role in raising leaders of character and strengthening Christian witness in the country.

It adds that the passing of the revered cleric was a great loss not only to the Christian community but also to Nigeria, considering his contributions to nation-building and the promotion of righteousness.

According to the statement, the SDP presidential candidate extends condolences to the family of the late cleric, the leadership and members of All Christians Fellowship, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and Christians across the world.

While mourning his demise, Adebayo urges Nigerians to celebrate Rev. Okoye’s enduring legacy of faithful service, integrity and commitment to God and humanity.

The statement prays for God’s comfort and strength for the bereaved family and the Christian community, and called for the emergence of more faithful leaders to sustain the ideals and values championed by the late cleric.
