The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to partner with relevant agencies to alleviate the plight of the less privileged.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Dr Betta Edu made this known in Abuja during a courtesy call by the Nigerian Red Cross Society, NRCS.
According to her, the ministry was committed to responding to the humanitarian crisis in line with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda of bringing 15 million Nigerians out of poverty.
Dr. Edu maintained that the Ministry was always ready to support organizations with the necessary tools to create an enabling environment for human capacity development to alleviate poverty in the nation.
Earlier the president of the Nigerian Red Cross Society NRCS, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga commended the minister on some of the initiatives to address poverty.
Prince Adeaga promised that NRCS would continue to support the ministry within its capacity towards achieving the renewed hope agenda.
The president of NRCS also called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on food shortage, migration, and flood in the country.
