United Kingdom (UK) and Republic of Ireland has been named as host of the 2028 European Championship (Euro 2028).
The Euro 2028 co-host ran unopposed with Turkey withdrawing last week to focus on its joint bid with Italy for 2032.
Italy and Turkey’s bid for 2032 was approved by European football’s governing body.
They have 20 potential host stadiums, of which 10 will be chosen, five per country, by October 2026.
Both countries focused on Euro 2028, with Uefa’s approval, after they ended a plan to be Europe’s preferred candidate for the 2030 World Cup.
Ten stadia were included in the UK-Ireland bid submission in April.
Six venues are in England, with one each from Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The bid proposes Cardiff’s Principality Stadium to hosts the opening match of the tournament with the final at London’s Wembley.
The tournament will be held in June and July 2028, exactly seven years since England and Scotland both hosted games during the re-arranged tournament.
Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales have never hosted a major football tournament.
UEFA is projecting that it will make more money from Euro 2028 than any other major tournament, including Euro 2032.
London’s Wembley Stadium and Glasgow’s Hampden Park hosted games at Euro 2020.
