CAF Champions League: Enyimba, Remo Guarantee Qualification

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) representatives at the CAF Champions League, Enyimba International and Remo Stars, have expressed their hopes of progression to the next round of the Continental competition.

The duo both suffered away losses in the first preliminary rounds played during the weekend.

Now they need to win the reversed fixtures to progress.

Defending NPFL champions Enyimba lost 3-4 to Al Ahli Benghazi of Libya, while Remo Stars lost 0–1 to Ghana champions, Medeama SC at the Cape Coast Stadium Ghana.

Enyimba International new Chairman Kanu Nwankwo, has assured that the Peoples Elephants would scale through the hurdle of Al Ahli Benghazi for a place in the next round of the CAF Champions League.

The Nigerian champions confidence coming into the second leg is from the three away goals which they scored, despite losing the game.

Hence, the former Super Eagles and Arsenal player said the players played with determination and their hearts.

“Our boys gave their all on the pitch,” he told EnyimbaFC. net.

Remo Stars defender, Victor Collins, revealed the reasons for the slim a 1-0 slim defeat to Ghanaian the Champions was as a result of poor pitch surface as it affected the players and blamed CAF for approving such stadium.

Both return legs will be played on Sunday.
