The Federal government says plans are ongoing to review salaries of civil servants.
President Bola Tinubu stated this during a national broadcast on the state of the economy.
According to him, the move is part of efforts to cushion the impact of the removal of petroleum subsidy which has triggered a hike in the prices of the commodities.
“In the same vein, we are also working in collaboration with the Labour unions to introduce a new national minimum wage for workers” he added.
“I want to tell our workers this: your salary review is coming,” Tinubu stated.
“Once we agree on the new minimum wage and general upward review, we will make budget provisions for it for immediate implementation.” the President stated.
President Tinubu also lauded some private organisations that have reviewed employees’ salaries.
“I want to use this opportunity to salute many private employers in the Organised Private Sector who have already implemented general salary review for employees,” he said.
He said all tiers of government have decided to provide palliatives to cushion the current economic hardship on Nigerians.
President Tinubu pledged to keep to promises made and enhance the economic status of the citizens.
He Urged Nigerians to be patient as there was no other time to make the decisions than now.
