Wike Inspects Projects, Vows To Deliver 10 More

The FCT Minister, Mr Nyesom Wike has vowed to deliver additional ten more projects before the commencement of the Presidential election.

The Minister gave the assurance after inspecting the ongoing Apo-Karshi and Bwari-Kubwa road projects in Abuja.

He declared that work would continue without interruption, stressing that there would be no rest until all key projects scheduled for delivery are completed.

Wike who maintained that the administration remained committed to fulfilling every promise made to residents, said the just concluded 31 days commissioning and flag-off of several projects did not signal the end of the administration’s infrastructural drive.

“We have about eight to ten major projects that must be completed before January, and we are determined to deliver”.

While emphasizing that governance requires continuity rather than celebration, the FCT Minister also noted that public confidence in the government must be sustained through performance.

“Has the tenure of Mr. President ended? Certainly not. His first tenure has not ended. His first tenure will end precisely on May 29, 2027. If that is the case, it means the work has also not ended,” Wike added.

Speaking on the Apo-Karshi Road project, Wike expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, describing the development as encouraging after years of delay.

The Minister who recalled that the project was awarded in 2010,
commended President Bola Tinubu for providing the necessary support that made the project’s execution continuation possible.

“My happiness today is that the Apo-Karshi Road, which has been a major concern, is progressing very well. Streetlights are already being installed. I commend the contractor and the host communities for their cooperation”.

On the Bwari-Kubwa Road project, Wike directed the contractor to maintain the agreed delivery timeline despite the challenging terrain, and warned against any attempt to alter the project schedule unnecessarily.

Responding to concerns over illegal motor-racing on newly completed roads, Wike warned that the administration would not tolerate activities that threatened public safety.

The Minister stressed that while citizens have rights, those rights must not endanger the lives of others.

He directed FCT traffic authorities to investigate the incidents and enforce measures to stop illegal street racing.

“If they want to engage in car racing, there are designated places for that, not within residential areas. Their rights have limitations, and life is more important”.

Meanwhile, some residents in Kubwa Area Council were seen carrying placards with inscription such as “Kuchibuyi has not seen uncommon minister like you before, “we will vote Tinubu 2027 4+ 4” , “Thank you Wike” among others.
