The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed over 56,000 personnel across the federation to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir.
The massive deployment is aimed at protecting lives, property, and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI).
The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, who ordered the deployment, also directed the immediate mobilization of operational vehicles, ambulances, boats, and K9 units to ensure rapid response during emergencies.
The CG disclosed that all specialized tactical squads such as Mining Marshals, Special Intelligence Squad, the Crack Squad, the Female Special Force and the Rapid Response Squad have been placed on high alert to counter potential security breaches.
Professor Audi also mandated Zonal Commanders to directly supervise commands within their purview and coordinate closely with State Commandants.
He also urged State Commandants to ensure full compliance with the operational order, and actively monitor Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Outpost Heads.
The NSCDC Boss reiterated the Corps’ commitment to working in synergy with sister security agencies and urged Citizens to support the Corps by providing timely information regarding any security threats to enable personnel respond swiftly.
The Commandant General warned individuals or groups planning to cause trouble or vandalize public infrastructure during the festive period to desist immediately as NSCDC will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone found disrupting public peace.
