President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the newly rehabilitated Aguma Palace–Radio Nigeria– Market Road in Gwagwalada Area Council, describing the project as a symbol of inclusive development and people-oriented governance.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Tinubu, represented by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima said the project is a demonstration of the Tinubu administration’s commitment to bridging the gap between promise and performance.
“What brings us together on this historic day is more than a road. It is a reminder that no community under this administration is too far to be seen, and nobody is too faint to be heard.”
He lauded Minister of the FCT, Dr Nyesom Wike, for his dynamic and results-driven leadership in delivering critical infrastructure across the territory within a short period.
He noted that the project was not imposed but rather nominated by the people of Gwagwalada themselves, which reflects the administration’s democratic and responsive approach to governance.
“From rehabilitated health care centres to improved learning environments and safer roads, the FCT is undergoing a quiet revolution, thanks to a team led by a man who refuses to accept mediocrity,” Shettima stated, referring to Wike.
“Mr. President is mightily proud of your accomplishments and your political ‘sarcasticity’,” he added.
The Vice President emphasized that the road would not only enhance mobility but also improve access to education and healthcare, uplift economic activity, and restore trust in government.
He described it as a “corridor of dignity for market women, a path to safety for school children, and a road to prosperity for hardworking traders.”
In his remarks, Minister Wike expressed deep fulfillment over the successful commissioning of 16 infrastructural projects in the FCT within the last 3 days.
He used the platform to challenge critics who he accused him of politicizing the administration’s achievements.
“You that is inciting Nigeria to revolt, i am waiting for you in Rivers State. You will start there first, and you will lead it with your children. Not that their children will be in London, and then, you are saying, they should come out and revolt”.
Wike underscored the impact of projects like the 9km Paikon-Kore road and others in rural areas, saying they have already begun transforming the local economy and reducing travel stress for residents.
He also praised local contractors for their efficiency and commitment to quality delivery.
“This administration has empowered local contractors and prioritized impactful, grassroots development. The joy on the faces of FCT residents is the real testimony of good governance,” Wike said.
Also at the commissioning were the Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud; Senators Jim Kuta, Philip Aduda, royal fathers, the Aguma of Gwagwalada, Alhaji Muhammad Magaji among others.
Traditional rulers, government officials, and a jubilant crowd of Gwagwalada residents witnessed the ceremony, which marks another milestone in the Tinubu administration’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and community development.
