Ushafa–War College Road, Symbol Of Inclusive Development- Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has once again reiterated his administration’s commitment to developing rural areas toward building inclusive and sustainable infrastructural development in Nigeria.

Tinubu stated this during the commissioning of the newly completed dualized and upgraded 16.4-kilometre Ushafa to War College Army Checkpoint road, alongside other ancillary roads in Bwari Area Council, Abuja.

Represented by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu described the project as a symbol of inclusive development and a tangible fulfilment of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said the road infrastructure would ease traffic congestion, boost local commerce, improve access to education and healthcare, and significantly enhance the quality of life at the Bwari axis.

“This commissioning is not just a ribbon-cutting ceremony. It is a call to action. It is an invitation to all Nigerians to join hands with us in building a Nigeria where every community is connected, every business thrives, and every citizen enjoys a life of dignity and opportunity,” Tinubu said.

Highlighting the strategic decision to award the project to an indigenous contractor, President Tinubu said it was a bold expression of trust in Nigerian capacity.

“We are not just building roads; we are building capacity. We are creating jobs. We are demonstrating that Nigerian contractors can deliver world-class infrastructure,” he stated.

In a passionate address, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Nyesom Wike described the commissioning as unprecedented in the history of the FCT.

According to him, no sitting president, vice president, or top national leader had ever visited or commissioned a project in the satellite towns until now.

“This is the first time a President or Vice President is coming to the satellite towns to identify with them, to say, as we care for the city, so we care for you,” Wike said, lauding the symbolic and practical importance of the gesture.

He further praised the contractor and the supervising FCT Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) Coordinator, commending their resilience and commitment to excellence.

“I have never visited a project more than I did this one, over 15 times. I gave the young coordinator sleepless nights. But today, he has delivered, and he has not disappointed,” Wike said.

In her vote of thanks, FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud emphasized that the project reflects President Tinubu’s firm belief in equitable development.

“This project is a testament that no part of this country, whether urban or rural, should be left behind. Your support continues to open new corridors of growth and development across the FCT,” she affirmed.

Dr. Mahmoud assured residents of the continued delivery of democracy dividends to every part of the territory.

The newly commissioned road, which connects several communities in the Bwari Area Council, is expected to serve as a catalyst for economic revitalization, reduce travel time, and increase security presence in the area.

The occasion was attended by top government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, and enthusiastic residents who turned out to witness the historic commissioning.
