Labour Party Expresses Confidence In 2027 Presidential Ticket

todayJuly 21, 2026

Background

The Labour Party has described its 2027 presidential ticket as a combination of competence and experience.

National Chairman of the party, Senator Nenadi Usman, stated this during a meeting with its Vice Presidential Candidate, Hajja Bintu Konto, in Abuja.

Senator Usman said the choice of Hajja Konto reflects the Labour Party’s commitment to inclusiveness and equal opportunities in leadership.

She described Konto as an accomplished professional and humanitarian whose experience would add value to governance if elected alongside Dr. Okereke in 2027.

Senator Usman also commended the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, for his leadership style and social welfare programmes, describing the state as an example of the Labour Party’s people-oriented governance.

She urged Nigerians to support the party, noting that the developments in Abia State demonstrate what Labour Party administrations can achieve.

On his part, the party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Chibuzo Okereke, expressed confidence in Hajja Konto’s ability to contribute to national development, describing her as an experienced and dependable partner.

He stressed the importance of women’s participation in governance, saying national development cannot be achieved without giving women greater roles in leadership.

In her remarks, the vice presidential candidate, Hajja Bintu Konto thanked the party leadership for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to dedicate herself to the service of the country if elected

She recalled her humanitarian activities during the Boko Haram insurgency and said the experience gained over the years would help in addressing Nigeria’s security and social challenges.

Konto added that she joined the Labour Party because of her belief that the party has the vision and commitment required to tackle Nigeria’s leadership challenges and rebuild the nation.

The meeting ended with party leaders expressing optimism about the prospects of the party in the 2027 general elections.

The interactive session brought together members of the national leadership and the party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Chibuzo Sunday Okereke.
