Rangers International head Coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has expressed dissatisfaction with his team slim 2-0 victory over Sunshine Stars.

The Flying Antelopes dominated the match on Matchday 28 of the NPFL 2023/2024 season at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, creating a multitude of chances but failing to convert them all, ultimately securing a narrow 2-0 victory over visiting Sunshine Stars F.C of Akure.

Kalu Nweke and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi were the goal scorers for the coach Fidelis Ilechukwu tutored side that has gone ten matches unbeaten in the league and with a result, maintained its stay at the summit of the twenty team log.

“I think it was a one-sided game. We dominated our opponent both in the first and second half. We created a lot of chances but quite unfortunately, we could not take all of them. It is too painful. I am not happy about that.

I expected today’s game to end with as much as 5-0 for us but that is football for you. It happens like that sometimes and we keep working on these lapses to ensure we kill off the resistance of opponents when we create the chances.”

Rangers maintains their lead in the league with 51 points after 28 games. They travel to Katsina next to face Katsina United in a matchday 29 clash on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

Enyimba Crush Kano Pillars 5-0: Finidi George Lauds Ruthless Performance

Finidi George praised the ruthless performance of Enyimba FC in their 5-0 demolition of Kano Pillars in Aba.

The defending champions inflicted Kano Pillars their heaviest league defeat since a 5-0 loss to Julius Berger in April 2002 via a brace from Joseph Atule and goals each from Alade Muyiwa, Chijioke Mbaoma and Eze Ekwutoziam.

While applauding the heroics of Atule, he said that the team will focus on picking points away from home starting with the visit to Lafia against Lobi Stars.

“It was a good game. I loved the tempo of the first half and in the second half, the tempo dropped a bit because of the goals we scored but I think in the last part of the game, we picked it up.

I’m quite happy with the victory. It is never easy to play Kano Pillars but we dominated the game. We must give kudos to the players.

We just have to focus on picking points away from home. That is our focus. This team is strong enough at home this season.

We need those goals at this point and he is responding. I am quite happy with him. This is the Atule we bought, we saw and wanted to have him here. We will continue to encourage him to do more. It has taken some time to get to that form.

We want to go there and win. I hope everything will be normal. I hope we have that fairness in Lobi’s match. We will just keep our fingers crossed.”

Meanwhile, The People’s Elephant travel to Lobi Stars on Sunday, April 7, 2024 for a gripping matchday 29 encounter. The current 3rd place side will be a tough test.
