The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike, has sworn- in the newly appointed Head of Service, Permanent Secretaries, as well as Chairman and Commissioners of the FCTA Civil Service Commission.
During the swearing-in ceremony in Abuja, Wike who harped on loyalty and commitment to duty, urged them to compliment President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by ensuring that Abuja works.
The Chief Judge of the FCT High Court, Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf, represented by Justice Sylvanus Oriji, administered the oath of office, and allegiance to the officials.
In his address, the FCT Minister also warned the newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries against performing below expectation, and unnecessary delay of project files.
“Today is a memorable day as far as the FCT is concerned. First of all, we want to thank His Excellency, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, who has shown leadership by making sure the 2018 Act is being implemented. That again reassures us of the Renewed Hope Agenda”.
“To the Permanent Secretaries, yes you have been made a permanent secretary, but you know what comes with it, you know the implication of that. If you perform below expectation, we have no time for that. I don’t want to hear that files are unduly delayed”, Wike warned.
Wike further hinted that he had directed the reshuffling of Directors to enhance efficiency, even as he assured that nobody will be politically victimized.
“Be assured that nobody will be politically victimized. I believe in competency, I believe in capacity.Please and please, we want you to support the government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to realise the Renewed Hope Agenda. So, you owe Mr President to make sure that Abuja works, and it must work very well. Wherever you are posted, what we require from you is commitment and total loyalty”.
“Everybody is looking towards us to make sure that we change the narrative and by the grace of God we are doing that now. Everybody is seeing that security is improving, you can see the infrastructure is working and other areas. Very soon we’ll start renovation of schools in the entire six area councils”.
“I believe once the National Assembly approves our 2024 statutory budget which we are going to defend today, I believe we will take off immediately and we can let the public know that by the grace of God by May this year Mr. president will have a lot of projects to commission in FCT”.
“Let me urge the other directors to be hopeful. The Head of Service is retiring this March but history have it that he is the first Head of Service. After seeing his commitment, I said even if he is going to spend two days, let him go with it as the former Head Of Service. So you never can tell who could be the next Head of Service. So be committed, when God said it is your turn it is going to be your turn”.
“Immediately after now, the Head of Service will send out the postings of Directors. I have said that there will be total reshuffling in all areas, and I am going to implement it” Wike said.
