Plans Underway To Make Food Available For Nigerians – Goronyo

To address issues of food security, hygiene, environmental concerns, and water acces in the nation, the Federal Government has expressed commitment in implementing strategic plans to make food available for Nigerians.

Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Bello Muhammed Goronyo, made this known when he hosted a delegation from Sokoto-Rima River Basin in his office in Abuja.

Goronyo emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to implementing the agenda set by the present administration and assured the people of Sokoto that tangible progress is underway, with qualified engineers and water specialists actively engaged in developing and implementing strategic plans in Sokoto State.

He added that It is anticipated by the next quarter that 50% of the targeted population will have direct access to improved water supply including Sokoto State and its environs, under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In his remarks, Sokoto State Commissioner for Water Resources, Yusuf Mohammed who led the delegation of Sokoto State participants at the 30th Regular Meeting of National Council on Water Resources and Sanitation extended gratitude to the Minister for his dedication to Sokoto State’s development.

He emphasized the importance of convening a State Press Conference to further leverage the Minister of State’s support in addressing critical issues such as food security and water supply in the state.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary of the Sokoto State Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Alhaji Ismail Wali, said the fruitful collaboration between the Federal Government and the state government under, Governor Ahmed Aliyu, has recorded significant improvements in quality water accessibility across urban and rural communities.

“The comprehensive water distribution plan, include 80% of good quality water to urban areas, 50% to semi-urban areas, and 30% to rural communities, Additionally, irrigation schemes aimed at urban residents are set to provide 60 liters per day, with 39 liters per day allocated for planned rural access.
