The Christain Association of Nigeria, CAN wants religious bodies to join anti corruption crusade and inculcate its negative effects in youths.
CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh gave the advise in Abuja during a day Dialogue with the theme “Youth, Religion and the Fight against Corruption” organsed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
EFCC organized the event for relevant Stakeholders to proffer possible solutions to the menace.
Archbishop Daniel Okoh commended EFCC for including religious leaders and youths in the war against corruption in the nation.
He noted that it was apt for the anti-corruption agency to get the youths involved in such national discourse as future leaders.
According to him though the youths did not introduce corruption in the social system, the level of acceptability of corrupt practices, especially cybercrime, as the easiest route to wealth and flamboyant lifestyle among youths was an alarming trend.
The clergyman said the unbridled desire in many adults in position of leadership introduced corruption into the social system which has affected the progress of the nation.
Archbishop Okoh however added that, it was the responsibility of religious leaders to ensure that the youths were well groomed to understand their place in the fight against corruption.
