The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has been urged to obey court orders, by reinstating Edozie Njoku as national chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.

The Director General of a Coalition of Civil Society Organisations, Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness, Dr Nwambu Gabriel
made the call at a news conference in Abuja.

Dr Gabriel lamented that flouting court orders is gradually becoming a trend in Nigeria.

To this end he said the group would have a roundtable with the INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu on the issue, saying a country where court orders are flouted is doomed.

The INEC chairman has been duly communicated and he has been served in respect to this judgement, so we intend also to have a roundtable with him to know what is happening.

“We are calling on INEC to do the right thing which is to respect the order of the court, the sanctity of the judiciary must be upheld at all times”.

“A society in which court orders are treated with levity is doomed. It doesn’t matter whom the law favors, therefore, beneficiaries of any court judgement should be protected by the law and supported to enjoy the dividends arising therefrom”.

“We call on President Bola Tinubu who is the highest beneficiary of court judgement, as it stands today in this country, he is duly bound to stop this impunity, imagine what it would have been if the supreme court judgement which upheld his election was flouted”, he added.
