A Member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei, has refuted claims that the National Assembly is solely focused on financial gains.

The Lawmaker who is representing the Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency of Bayelsa state emphasized that the primary responsibility of a lawmaker is to provide quality representation, enact laws and exercise oversight to ensure good governance.

In his New Year message to his constituents, Ambaiowei reaffirmed his commitment to sponsoring bills that would establish institutions and promote development in his constituency.

While acknowledging the financial constraints, he assured his constituents that he would strive to meet their monetary requests, but stressed that his priority lies in advocating for them and addressing their concerns.

Ambaiowei who highlighted the district’s potential in crude oil production, education, and tourism, expressed his intention to propose bills that would foster growth and advancement in these areas.

Furthermore, he assured his constituents that he would strive for a balanced approach, with a focus on elevating the Federal Constituency within Bayelsa State.

The lawmaker expressed particular concern regarding the frequent boat accidents in coastal areas, vowing to tackle the issues faced by his constituents.

Additionally, he raised concerns about the Federal Government’s plan to provide electric buses or compressed natural gas (CNG) as palliatives for commuters.

Recognizing that a significant portion of his constituency relies on waterways due to the lack of accessible roads, Ambaiowei pledged to raise this matter in the House of Representatives.

He also drew attention to the outdated shore protection in the Amassoma community, which he intended to address in the upcoming National Assembly session.

The Lawmaker conveyed his unwavering love and dedication to Southern Ijaw, promising to confront the challenges faced by both his state and federal constituencies.

Furthermore, the lawmaker urged the Ijaw people to unite under organizations such as the Ijaw National Congress and the Ijaw Youth Council, with the shared objective of advancing the Ijaw nation.

He also called upon all Ijaw governors to support the Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri, emphasizing the importance of unity for the progress of the Ijaw people.
