Transit crime popularly known as “One Chance” will soon be a thing of the past as the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA has concluded plans to take delivery of buses to serve commuters in the nation’s capital.

FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike stated this during an interactive with the Estate Developers and Residents Association in the FCT on disagreements over fees for the issuance of Certificate of Occupancy, C of O to property owners in the territory.

Mr Wike who said that the buses would also help ease transportation for residents of the city said the FCTA will phase out commercial tricycles in the city.

According to him, the purchase of the buses and taxis was enabled by the increase in Internally Generated Revenue of the FCT and funds saved by the administration since assumption of office by the minister.

The FCTA Boss who stressed that five million Naira will be paid for the issuance of C of O for each property in the FCT also explained that the property owners stand to gain a lot with the document.

He explained that money to be generated from the issuance of C of O’s will be used to build infrastructure and provide services for residents of the capital city.

The Minister promised that the C of O’s would have security features and be linked to the National Identity Number, NIN.

He frowned at undeveloped land in high-brow areas in the territory which he said are used by criminals and assured that he would review the rates for different categories of houses.

The minister also extended the period for payment of fees for the issuance of the C of O’s from three to four months.

While appealing for the review of the C of O fees, some residents also pleaded with the Minister to consider their plight.
