The House of Representatives has called on the electorates in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States to come out en-men masse to participate in today’s Gubernatorial Elections.
In a statement in Abuja Jointly signed by the Chairman, House Committee on Electoral Matters, Prince Adebayo Balogun, his counterpart on Media and Public Affairs and the Spokesperson of the House, Mr. Akin Rotimi Jr, the House notes that elections represent an opportunity for citizens to express their preferred choice of leaders and entrust them with the mandate to lead.
The Statement therefore calls on all eligible voters in the three affected states to take advantage of the election to exercise their franchise.
It urges the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to ensure a free and fair election.
The statement calls on Stakeholders in the electoral process including political parties and their candidates to play by the rules of the exercise.
It also advises security agencies to remain professional and non-partisan in the discharge of their duties.
According to the Statement, The 10th House of Representatives, is committed to strengthening the Nation’s Electoral laws and ensuring enforcement, to deepen the electoral process.
