Protection Of Rights Of Girls Strategic For National Development

The Federal Government has been urged to invest more in the protection of the rights of the girl child which is strategic for the nation’s progress and development.

Former Presidential Aspirant of the Social Democratic Party in the last general election, Mrs. Cesnabmihilo Nuhu made the call while featuring on “Perspective” a Kapital FM current Affairs programme in Abuja.

Mrs. Nuhu stressed that it is only when the rights of girls are protected that they can achieve their full potential.

“Investing in girls shouldn’t be a matter of social justice but also a strategic imperative for the nation’s progress and development” she added.

Speaking on the topic “Protecting the Rights of The Girl Child Education”, Mrs Nuhu appealed to government to initiate programmes, that will improve the life and rights of the girl child in Nigeria.

She called for more political will in ensuring that every girl child in Nigeria gets the opportunity to fulfill her potential, receive quality education and live a healthy life.

“Government’s commitment to the welfare of the girl child and development should be unwavering and every Nigerian girl should have the opportunity to realize her full potential,” Nuhu stated.

Also contributing on the programme, a Public Affairs commentator, Mr. Frank Uromie who said girls are very industrious called on the government to focus more on the girl child to bring out the best in them.

“However, it is essential to acknowledge that girls have continually displayed resilience, determination, and the capacity to overcome adversity,” he said.

Mr. Uromie urged the government to as part of encourage the girl child to embrace education and increase school enrolment to increase the number of women as Teachers and Principals in schools to serve as role models.

“The girl child is not just a symbol of hope but a driving force for a brighter and more equitable future.

 

“We can build a world where every girl has the opportunity to shine, and in doing so, we will create a better world for all,” he said.

He also tasked stakeholders on improving access to education by building more schools in rural areas that are close to them stressing that this will prevent them from fear of attacks.
