Former Chelsea and Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard has announced his retirement from football at the age of 32.

32 year old Hazard, who won the Premier League twice during his time at Chelsea, revealed his retirement from football on social media on Tuesday.

He joined Real Madrid from Chelsea, but played just 54 league games for the Spanish giants and left the club at the end of last season.

The Belgian struggled with injuries and made just 76 appearances in four seasons at Madrid.

Making his retirement known on Tuesday Hazard said;

“You must listen to yourself and say stop at the right time,” said Hazard, who has been a free agent since his contract was terminated in June.

After 16 years and more than 700 matches played, I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer.

I was able to realise my dream, I have played and had fun on many pitches around the world.

During my career, I was lucky to meet great managers, coaches and teammates – thank you to everyone for these great times, I will miss you all.”

The 32 year old already retired from international football last December after being part of the squad which was knocked out of the 2022 World Cup during the group stage.

Hazard started his career with French club Lille, scoring 50 goals in 149 appearances and helping the club to win a domestic double of Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France in 2010-11.

Chelsea later signed Hazard for £32m in 2012, he made 352 appearances for the club, scoring 110 goals.

The Belgian won two Premier League titles, two Europa Leagues, FA Cup and League Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge.

In July 2019, Hazard joined Real Madrid in a deal worth a club-record £130m including bonuses, scoring seven goals in 76 appearances.

He left Real Madrid in the summer of 2023 and struggled to find a club ever since.
