ANCOPSS Committed To Inculcating Values In Students – Gupa

The All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, has pledged its commitment to continue to uphold professional ethics towards nurturing students that would be good ambassadors of the country.

 

The President ANCOPSS, Alhaji Bello Adam Gupa who gave this assurance during the 166th Congress of the Association in Abuja, explained that Principals have the responsibility to adhere strictly to the Professional code of conduct to impact students positively in line with international best practices.

 

According to Gupa, the conference is targeted at keeping School Administrators well informed about the developments in Secondary Education and how to enhance teaching and learning.

 

He also tasked school administrators to be accountable in the day to day running of their Schools and ensure proper utilisation of the funds entrusted in their care in line with extant laws and financial regulations.

 

The President of ANCOPSS who further expressed displeasure over the gross misconduct of some principals in the way they hand over to their fellow principals, stressed the need for transparency in all dealings.

 

He also cautioned against collecting illegal charges as the new academic session begins adding that charges in Schools should be limited to what has been approved by the FCT Administration through the various Boards and Departments.

 

He encouraged them to be of assistance to one another in their various zones so that teaching and learning will be more effective.

 

He assured that the Professional Body would not relent in efforts to give Education in FCT a great boost even as he harps on the need for all principals to work with all Stakeholders and build their capacity to enable them deliver purposeful leadership in the Education sector.

 

Also speaking, the newly elected National Public Relations Officer, Mr Sam Okpe, the Principal, Government Secondary School Kwali enjoined the principals to work in line with laid down rules and regulations to sustain the positive image of the Confederation, towards improving teaching and learning.

 

In her welcome speech, the host principal, Hajia Titilayo Yahaya reminded them of the enormous responsibility of educating and moulding the character of future leaders.

 

Highpoint of the event was the flag off of the 2022 FCT Scholarship to some students in collaboration with the ANCOPSS.
