The Nigeria Hunter and Forest Security Service, NHFSS, North Central Command has commissioned its office complex in Idu Area of the Federal Capital Territory.
On the occasion , the Commander General of NHFSS, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin said the move is to further widen the scope and strengthen the operations of the Service in the North Central region of Nigeria.
Ambassador Osatimehin who was represented by the Assistant Commander General in charge of North Central, Abdulhakeem Ibrahim stated that NHFSS has been fully structured through out the six regions over the years towards complimenting the efforts of formal Security agencies in the protection of lives and property.
He therefore advised officers and men of the North Central Command of NHFSS to make good use of the facilities in the newly commissioned office Complex adding that other necessary measures would be put in place to further enhance their performance.
In a remark, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igwe commended the efforts of NHFSS towards community policing nationwide.
Mr Igwe who was represented by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Mode Maganata called for more collaborative efforts with NHFSS towards overcoming the nation’s security challenges.
On his part, the FCT Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Olushola Odumosu said establishment of additional office accomodation will go a long way in enhancing security within Idu and its environs most especially the Idu Rail Station and other Estates in the area.
Mr Odumosu who was also represented by the Head of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department in the Command, Hussaini Pama stated that NSCDC would continue to work with the NHFSS on ways to further safeguard and protect public Infrastructure from criminals.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commander Operations in charge of North Central of NHFSS, .Mr Joseph Obadiah said officers and men of the Command had been trained by the Police, Army, DSS and NSCDC on intelligence gathering and other security strategies aimed at combating insecurity in the region.
Mr Obadiah stated that NHFSS has over the years assisted Security Agencies in the fight against banditry, boko haram, kidnapping, terrorism and other forms of crimes within the forests accross the North Central region.
He therefore solicited the support of the Minister of FCT and State Governors in the region towards boosting operations of NHFSS to reduce crimes in their domains.
The Commander therefore advised officers and men of the Command against acts detrimental to the set objectives of NHFSS in Nigeria.
Other speakers at the commissioning including the Tor Tiv in FCT, Chief Joseph Aneh stressed the need for constitutional recognition for the NHFSS towards strengthening the nation’s Security apparatus
Highpoint of the commissioning was the decoration of the Commander Operations in charge of North Central of NHFSS, Mr Joseph Obadiah by the Tor Tiv in FCT, Chief Joseph Aneh.
