The Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu has felicitated with Muslims in the Council on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, urging them to adhere to the cardinal principle of peace upon which the religion of Islam is built.

This is contained in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Kingsley Madaki.

According to the statement, the Council Boss enjoined all Muslims and other residents of the Council to reflect deeply on the role they can play individually and collectively to build a nation of which they can be proud.

“No matter their political, religious and tribal differences they should in no way resort to violence or promotion of anarchy in settling differences”.

It emphasized the need to imbibe the virtues of sacrifice, patience, and tolerance in their dealings with fellow residents and all Nigerians.

According to the statement, Maikalangu also urged residents to always embrace dialogue in settling differences and reject attempts by unpatriotic individuals or groups to incite unrest which is always counter-productive.

The statement also reminded residents that the Federal Capital Territory was built on a foundation of unity and tolerance for all Nigerians, hence residents, are advised to imbibe and practice these principles.

It stressed that the Council Boss also used the opportunity to restate the commitment of the administration to the provision of adequate security during the Maulud celebration.

The statement however appealed to residents to always cooperate with security agencies at all times by providing useful information that will assist them in the discharge of their responsibilities.
