IDA : FG Restates Commitment To Food Security, Robust Economy

To address the present economic situation, the Federal Government says it will promote economic growth, and food security, and tackle unemployment and corruption in the Country.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume made this known at a world News Conference in Abuja ahead of the nation’s sixty-third Independence Anniversary.

He said the Bola Tinubu-led administration also pledged to fast-track policies that would cushion the effects of subsidy removal on the citizens.

In his words “The government is fully aware of the economic challenges that Nigerians are confronted with since the removal of the fuel subsidy as well as the impact of the global economic downturn.

The government is working assiduously to provide the necessary palliatives to mitigate such challenges and also the provision of buses to ease hardship on transportation among others. At the same time, the government is engaging with Labour to address areas of concern for the well-being of all Nigerian workers and Nigerians generally”.

The Secretary to the Government Of the Federation who highlighted the activities slated for the Celebration which Comprises a symposium, National prayers, Presidential broadcast, and military parade in a low-key manner in line with the present economic realities noted that President Bola Tinubu-led administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is working assiduously to ensure that future policies would not have negative effects on the Nigerian masses.

He explained that the president had given a directive not to increase school fees in all federal institutions to encourage parents to train their children.

According to him, the Anniversary Symposium/Public Lecture will be held on Thursday, 28th September 2023 at the State House Conference Center at 10 a.m., a Lecture on Friday, 29th September at the National Mosque Conference Center at 10:00 a.m., and Juma’at Prayer at the National Mosque at 1:00 pm.

Presidential Broadcast on Sunday, 1st October 2023 at 7:00 am, an Inter-Denominational Church Service on Sunday, 1st October 2023 at the National Christian Center at 10:00 am, Military Parade on Monday, 2nd October 2023 at the Presidential Villa, at 9:00 am”.

In a remark, the Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Ngozi Onwudiwe said Nigeria as a Country has come of age therefore the Citizens should leverage the wisdom to foster unity and work towards the prosperity of tho nation.

The Minister of Information urged Nigerians to be good ambassadors of the country as no nation divided against itself can stand.

The theme of the anniversary is “Nigeria @ 63, Renewed Hope for Unity & Prosperity
