The Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Makurdi has today revalidated the victory of Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia as the duly elected governor of the state.
The tribunal in its verdict reaffirmed the sacred mandate freely expressed and given to him by the people of the state at the polls.
Reacting to the judgment in a statement, Governor Alia says it is a victory for democracy and the rule of law.
According to him, the court has indicated once again that it is the last hope of the common man and that no might is powerful enough to thwart the supreme will of the people and claim power through the back door.
He assured the good people of the state of his commitment to put the welfare of the state ahead of personal interest.
Alia appreciates and recognizes the fact that his victory is that of the people to whom sovereignty and power truly belongs.
Governor Alia rededicates himself to the service of the people and strengthening of democratic values across the state.
He enjoins all and sundry including members of the opposition to join hands with him to ensure that the state attains greater heights away from the current mess of misery, poverty, and maladministration.
