An Akwa Ibom State-born teacher has broken the recent 124-hour Guinness World Record for the ‘longest marathon reading aloud’ by an individual.
The teacher, simply identified as John Obot, broke the GWR set by Isakov of Turkey and is now setting a new record of 145 hours of non-stop reading aloud.
A member of the Uyo Book Club, Obot first started the marathon on Saturday, September 5 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State but due to technical issues, the first attempt was canceled after a few days and restarted on Tuesday, September 13, and is expected to end at about 1 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19.
In 2022, Isakov achieved his feat after reading for 124 hours and 15 minutes.
