Novak Djokovic made history on Sunday by winning his fourth US Open and a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam singles title by outlasting Daniil Medvedev in a punishing US Open final in New York.
The 36-year-old had to dig deep to win in straight-set of 6-3 7-6 (7-5) 6-3.
Djokovic’s victory in New York makes him become the oldest US Open champion in the Open Era.
He is now tied with Margaret Court 50-year record.
Earlier this year Djokovic surpassed Rafael Nadal’s record tally of 22 men’s major titles.

New US open champion Djokovic is now two clear of Rafael Nadal’s 22 Grand Slam crowns and four ahead of Roger Federer, who retired on 20 last year.
The 24 time grand slam champion won three of the four Grand Slam titles in 2023, becoming the first man to achieve this feat on four occasions.
Winning the Australian Open and French Open with his only blemish coming in an epic five-set defeat by Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final.
Djokovic has the chance to surpass Court at January’s Australian Open – where he has already won a record 10 titles.
