The Rivers State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with the killing of the late Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ahoada Police Division, SP Bako Angbashim.
Daily Post reported that the command made the arrest during an operation at Odumude community, Ahoada East Local Government Area, aimed at recovering the body of the deceased DPO.
The operation was led by the state Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Emeka, where a locally made pistol and various charms were recovered.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement, said the suspects are currently in police custody undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Port Harcourt.
Iringe-Koko said as a result of the development, residents of Odumude community have fled the area.
A new DPO, SP Zuokumor Richard, has been assigned to the Ahoada division, she said.
The statement revealed that the new Ahoada DPO was accompanied by half a unit of men from Mopol 48, one-third unit from Mopol 19, 56, and tactical teams.
