The Commissioner representing Nasarawa state in the Federal Character Commission, FCC, Manman Alakai has refuted the allegation that he collected millions of Naira through his Personal Assistant, in exchange for slots in the yhe civil service.
The Commissioner who described the allegations against him as baseless said he has never and will never engage in illegality no matter the financial gain.
He stated this during the continuous investigative hearing by the committee investigating employment racketeering by Ministries, Departments and Agencies and Mismanagement of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS.
Two victims of Job racketeering, Musa Ibrahim, Abdulrahman Yasou had appeared before the lawmakers with the allegation that the Personal assistant of the Commissioner representating Nasarawa state in the FCC, collected millions of Naira on behalf of the Nasarawa state Commissioner for job slots in the Federal Character Commission.
But Alakai in a swift reaction told the lawmakers that he had to inform the police who immediately swung into action when his name was portrayed in bad light over the allegation of job racketeering.
On his part, the Chairman of the Commitee, Yusuf Gagdi expressed displeasure over the absence of the witnesses to substantiate their claims against the Commissioner representating Nasarawa state in the FCC.
Mr. Gagdi emphasized his committee’s readiness to go the extra mile to ensure that the mandates given them are carried out.
In their final submission, the committee maintained that all those invited must appear to enable them to conclude the hearing.
