The Speaker House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas says Gas flaring poses a great threat to human lives, as well as environmental degradation if not urgently addressed.

He stated this in his opening remarks at an investigative hearing by the Adhoc committee on Gas flaring in Nigeria from 2013-2023.

Mr. Abbas who was represented by the chief whip, Usman Kumo in his opening remarks, maintained that the unique hearing seeks to brainstorm with relevant stakeholders on measures needed to address the issue of gas flaring in the Country.

In his inaugural speech, the committee led by Ahmed Munir from Kaduna state, noted that the country looses billions of dollars annually to gas flaring, which would have contributed to its growing economy.
