Stakeholders Task Journalists On Disability Act Inclusive Content, Reporting

Stakeholders in nation building have called for adequate skills acquisition programmes and the provision of curriculum that will integrate persons with disabilities into the society to protect their rights.

They made the call at a media capacity building in Abuja.

The capacity building is aimed at empowering journalists to create compelling stories that sheds light on the progress so far in the implementation of the disabilities Act across the country.

One of the Stakeholders and the Director Global Initiative for Civil Stabilisation Mr. Mohammed Al-Mansur who explained that proper empowerment for persons with disabilities would go along way to improve their well being and rid the street of disabilities beggers.of

In a presentation, Mr. Diego Okenyodo while explaining the role of journalism as a tool to depend the implementation of the disabilities act said the media have a role to play by reporting issues that would ensure the right of people are well protected.

Also Mary Musa While explaining the ethics and principles of reporting disabilities rights and issues stressed the need to always report appropriately and ensure that reports around disabilities are not discriminating

The theme of the programme is reporting for deepening the implementation of the 2018 Discrimination against persons with disabilities.
