The Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council AMAC, Christopher Maikalangu has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, associates, colleagues, and the good people of FCT on the passing of his Aide, Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf, the Senior Special Assistant on Community Development during a brief illness.
Maikalangu who stated this at his funeral service in Abuja, described the late Yunusa popularly known as Buhun Borkonu as a great warrior and diligent appointee, a bridge builder and young man who played a pivotal role in connecting the government and communities in AMAC and the entire FCT by fighting tirelessly for the rights of the people.
The AMAC Boss, acknowledging the impact of Buhun Borkonu’s death, stated that the entire city had lost a great advocate noting that while death is inevitable, his legacy would live in the hearts of those he touched and prayed that God would raise more individuals like him who would continue to fight for the rights and welfare of the people.
“Life at its best is very brief; this is a season we need him most, but God knows best. We will forever miss you, as you were indeed very fearless, extremely outspoken, and instrumental to my success during my 2023 electoral year. This life is a circle. Rest in peace, Buhu, until we meet to part no more. Good night, my dear brother and friend.”
The AMAC Chairman urged the family, friends, colleagues, and people of the FCT to accept his passing as an act of God and find comfort in the good ideals he lived.
He also prayed that God receives his soul and comfort all those mourning his transition, adding that Yunusa was a strong advocate for the emancipation of the original inhabitants of the FCT and a dedicated public servant.

In a remark, the Regional Coordinator Afro Arab Youth Council West Africa, Comrade Akoshile Muktar said the sudden death of Buhun Borkonu, a passionate Advocate for good governance and youth rights in the Federal Capital Territory FCT, has left a void in the advocacy community describing him as more than just an advocate but, a friend, mentor and a beacon of hope for many young people.
According to him Buhu’s dedication to advocacy was evident in his tireless efforts to checkmate government actions that were not in the best interest of the people adding that he was a vocal critic of bad governance and champion of transparency and accountability whose work with the ENDSARS and other initiatives demonstrated his commitment to creating positive change in the FCT.
“As a community, we mourn the loss of Buhu, but our major concern is about the welfare of his family, particularly his young wife who is reportedly jobless. It is hoped that the government will fulfil its promise to support the family, he said”.
In a reaction, Bala Iyah, Buhu’s step father spoke fondly of his late son, expressing no regrets about their relationship attributing their bond to God’s divine grace to have been part of his success story while alife.
” I have been managing Buhu’s health issues for over a year by offering him reassurance and support during difficult times.”
He, however, described Buhu as a devoted son, highlighting the strong bond they shared despite his struggles with his health.
