HCoF Seeks Collaboration Among Federal, State Institutions

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, has called for evidence-based reforms, digital innovation and stronger collaboration among federal and state public institutions to build a more efficient and future-ready Public Service.

Mrs. Walson-Jack made the call while delivering the keynote address at the opening of the 48th Meeting of the National Council on Establishments in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

She said the successful implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda depends largely on an efficient and effective Civil Service.

The Head of the Civil Service described the National Council on Establishments as the highest policy-making body on Public Service structures, Schemes of Service and Conditions of Service, stressing that its decisions must be guided by professionalism, objectivity and patriotism.

She explained that the ongoing review of the Schemes of Service and requests for new cadres would be guided by the findings of the Personnel Audit and Skills Gap Analysis to ensure workforce decisions are based on credible data, institutional needs and the demands of the future of work.

Mrs. Walson-Jack noted that the Personnel Audit and Skills Gap Analysis is designed to identify workforce competencies, skills gaps and training needs to support workforce development, succession planning and a modern Public Service.

Declaring the meeting open, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, described the Public Service as the engine room of government and called for more agile, digitally driven and accountable institutions capable of meeting emerging challenges.

He also commended the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation for reforms aimed at repositioning the Federal Civil Service.

The 48th Meeting of the National Council on Establishments is being attended by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Heads of Service from the 36 states and the FCT, as well as other senior government officials.
