Alake Pledges Better Publicity For Government Policies

todayJuly 15, 2026

Background

Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, has pledged to intensify public communication and awareness of government policies.

Dr. Alake stated this on his conferment as a Fellow of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON). In Abuja.

Speaking after receiving the honour, Alake stated that the recognition underscored the importance of strategic communication in governance and public administration.

The minister expressed appreciation to ARCON for acknowledging his contributions to the communications profession and public service, noting that effective communication remains critical to promoting transparency, accountability and stakeholder engagement.

He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to sustained engagement with citizens, investors, host communities and other stakeholders to ensure greater understanding and support for reforms in the solid minerals sector.

Alake stressed that improved communication of government policies would help deepen public trust and advance President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly efforts aimed at repositioning the mining sector as a major contributor to economic diversification.

Earlier, Director-General of ARCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, said the fellowship was in recognition of Alake’s outstanding contributions to strategic communication, ethical public engagement and national development.

Fadolapo noted that since assuming office, the minister has effectively combined policy innovation with purposeful public engagement to reposition the solid minerals sector and boost investor confidence.

According to him, Alake’s transparent communication approach has enhanced public trust in ongoing reforms, including efforts to curb illegal mining, promote mineral beneficiation and attract responsible investments into the sector.

The ARCON boss also described the minister as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished journalists and communication professionals, whose decades of impactful service in journalism and strategic communications have earned him widespread respect and recognition.
