3rd Anniversary: President Tinubu Promises Better Nigeria, Inaugurates OSEX Dual Carriageway

todayJune 9, 2026

Background

As part of activities marking his third year in office, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the newly completed dual carriageway of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) in Abuja.

Speaking during the inauguration, President Tinubu pledged to continue building, reforming, and investing in Nigeria’s future to create a prosperous and sustainable nation for all citizens.

The newly inaugurated OSEX stretches from the Ring Road I Junction near Gudu Cemetery to the Ring Road II Junction at Kabusa Junction, connecting with Apo Oladipo Diya Way.

Represented by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, President Tinubu expressed delight that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), under the leadership of Nyesom Wike, was able to organise a 31-day programme to commemorate his third anniversary in office.

The President particularly commended the speed and quality of the project’s execution, noting with satisfaction that the number of projects lined up for commissioning during the third anniversary exceeded those commissioned during the first and second anniversaries.

In his remarks, the FCT Minister, Mr Nyesom Wike, said President Tinubu had demonstrated exemplary leadership and appealed to residents of the FCT to reciprocate the administration’s goodwill at the appropriate time.

According to Wike, the completion of previously abandoned projects reflects the Renewed Hope Administration’s belief that government is a continuum and that development initiatives should be sustained regardless of changes in leadership.

In her vote of thanks, the Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the FCT Minister for their unwavering commitment to infrastructure development, which she said has significantly transformed the nation’s capital.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Richard Dauda Yonana, who gave an overview of the project, said the contract was awarded in October 2025.

According to him, the completion of the 15-kilometre road will reduce travel time, improve access to residential districts, and ease traffic congestion along the Apo – Wasa corridor.
