The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajudeen has urged Nigerians to pray for peaceful polls as the country prepares for the 2027 general election.
In a Sallah message to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, Dr Abbas also called for increased charity towards the poor, the needy and the less privileged, describing compassion as a central teaching in Islam.
The Speaker encouraged Muslims to use the period for reflection, stressing the lessons of faith, obedience and sacrifice, and that citizens devote their time and resources to the service of humanity and worship of God.
He also called on Nigerians to pray for the country’s unity, prosperity and political stability, as well as for leaders at all levels of government.
While congratulating Muslims on the celebration, Dr Abbas urged them to remain committed to the nation’s peace and progress.
