NUJ FCT, Adobe Train Over 100 Journalists In Multimedia Skills

todayMay 26, 2026

Background

Over 100 journalists have benefited from a digital skills training organized by the Federal Capital Territory Council of the Nigeria  Union of Journalists in collaboration with Lifestyle Hues and Adobe.

The one-day training, in Abuja, brought together journalists from public and private media organizations across the capital.

NUJ FCT Council Chairman, Grace Ike, said the initiative underscores the council’s commitment to empowering media practitioners through continuous learning, innovation and exposure to global best practices.

“I believe this training is one of many steps we are taking to ensure that our members remain competitive, relevant and impactful,” Ike said.

“The way we present information has evolved, and we must adapt.”

She said skills such as visual design, multimedia editing and digital storytelling are now central to journalism, noting that tools like Adobe Express are critical for effective communication in the digital age.

Ike thanked Lifestyle Hues and the Adobe team for the partnership and urged participants to fully engage and apply the knowledge gained in their respective newsrooms.

Training facilitator Ayodotun Akinfenwa of Lifestyle Hues said the program was aimed at improving journalists’ productivity and independence.

“Journalists need to understand how to create designs, presentations and content in the course of their work,” she said. “Tools like this enhance productivity and help them operate more independently.”

Akinfenwa, a brand marketing consultant and Adobe partner, added that digital visibility is increasingly important for professionals.

“If you are not showing up online, it is almost as if you are not doing anything,” she said, noting that visibility often determines access to opportunities.

She also urged media organizations to invest in regular training, describing journalists as key influencers who must remain at the forefront of communication and digital tools.

Participants described the training as timely and called for more capacity-building programs for media professionals.
