Wike Intensifies Efforts To Connect 13km Dapa Road To Pai-Gomani, Yangoji

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has intensified efforts to construct and connect roads in rural communities within the Kwali Area Council.

Wike, during the inspection of two major road projects with a bridge in Kwali Area Council, expressed satisfaction with the ongoing road construction linking Dapa, Pai-Gomani, and Yangoji in Abuja.

The minister explained that the road project was in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at extending infrastructure to underserved rural communities and reducing pressure on urban centres.

According to the minister, the administration deliberately shifted attention to satellite towns to ensure balanced development and improve connectivity across the territory.

Wike, who disclosed that the road project would be among key infrastructure projects lined up for inauguration during activities marking President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office this June, noted that the initiative would also help curb rural-urban migration.

“Remember that when we came on board, one of the directives of Mr. President is that we should not concentrate provision of infrastructure just only in the cities. We must open up all the satellite towns in order to discourage rural-urban migration,” Wike said.

He explained that the ongoing 13-kilometre Gomani-Yangoji road project was awarded to Zeberced Construction Company, the same firm that handled the A2-Pai road earlier inaugurated by President Tinubu during activities marking his second year in office.

The minister said significant progress had been recorded on the project, with the bridge already launched, while drainage construction had reached between 90 and 95 per cent completion.

He added that the installation of streetlight pillars was also ongoing.

“From what we’ve seen, you can attest to the fact that we are very much encouraged. Luckily, the bridge had been launched, which we are standing on, the drainages have been done, optimized in 90 to 95 per cent. They are now building the streetlight pillars,” he stated.

The minister commended Zeberced Construction Company for maintaining quality standards and adhering to the project timeline, expressing confidence that the road would be completed as scheduled.

“I commend, as usual, the contractor, Zeberced, not only for providing quality jobs, but also keeping to the timeline, making promises that we will inaugurate this road this June. I am happy,” he said.

Wike further praised the management and staff of the company for their commitment and dedication towards ensuring timely delivery of the project for the benefit of rural communities in the FCT.

“I believe that when Mr. President comes here, it will be a thing of joy for him to see that development is passing through all the satellite towns,” Wike added.
