Parallel ADC Congress Deepens Kogi Crisis

The leadership crisis rocking the coalition of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State has deepened following the emergence of Kingsley Temitope Ogga as the factional chairman after a parallel congress held in Lokoja.

The latest development comes barely weeks after another faction of the party conducted a separate congress that produced Tom Zachary Ogijo as chairman, further widening the internal division within the party ahead of the 2027 general election.

Addressing party members and supporters shortly after the congress, Ogga insisted that his faction remains the only legitimate leadership structure of the ADC in Kogi State.

According to him, the congress that produced his executive followed due process and reflected the true wishes of party members across the state.

“We are the authentic leadership of the ADC in Kogi State, and every genuine party activity must pass through this structure,” Ogga declared.

He warned aspirants seeking elective positions on the platform of the party not to patronize the rival faction, maintaining that any nomination forms obtained outside his leadership would not be recognized.

“Any aspirant purchasing forms from the other faction is only wasting time and resources because such forms will not stand the test of legitimacy,” he said.

Ogga further accused the opposing camp of attempting to create confusion within the party, stressing that his faction remains committed to strengthening the ADC and positioning it for victory in future elections.

The parallel congress is the latest sign of deepening cracks within the party in Kogi State, raising concerns among members over the ADC’s preparedness for the 2027 electoral contest.
