Tinubu Tasks New Ambassadors On Foreign Investments, Partnership

President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigeria’s newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners to relentlessly pursue foreign investments, strengthen strategic partnerships and project a positive image of the country abroad.

Speaking at the opening of an induction programme for the envoys in Abuja, the President, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, said the diplomats must ensure their assignments translate into tangible benefits for Nigerians and promote national development.

Tinubu noted that the global system is changing rapidly due to geopolitical shifts, economic uncertainties, technological disruptions and security challenges, stressing that diplomats must adopt a modern, result-oriented approach to diplomacy.

“The international system is evolving rapidly. We must be prepared to meet these challenges by focusing on how best to protect and promote Nigeria’s national interest,” he said.

The President also announced a reordering of Nigeria’s foreign policy framework, the 4D Doctrine, now prioritised as Demography, Development, Diaspora and Democracy, to place Nigerians at the centre of foreign policy engagements.

He urged the envoys to promote trade, attract foreign direct investment and protect the welfare of Nigerians in the diaspora, while maintaining professionalism, integrity and accountability in their duties.
