PDP Stakeholders Demand Zoning Of 2027 Presidential Ticket To South

In a decisive move to reposition the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general election, stakeholders and concerned leaders of the party have converged on Abuja, with a demand that the 2027 presidential Ticket be zoned to the South.

The meeting, hosted by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Nyesom Wike, took place at his official residence in Life Camp, where the PDP Stakeholders reaffirmed Senator Sam Anyanwu as National Secretary of the party.

The high-level gathering reviewed the internal crisis rocking the PDP and unanimously resolved key action points aimed at restoring discipline, unity, and adherence to constitutional principles within the party.

In a communique, the stakeholders declared that the current state of disarray in the PDP stemmed from persistent violations of the party’s constitution, specifically Sections 36, 47, and 48.

They condemned the disregard for the Supreme Court judgment that confirmed Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the duly elected National Secretary of the party.

The stakeholders warned that failure to uphold the rule of law and internal democracy could lead the PDP down the path of “self-annihilation.”

“We are alarmed that the party is on an inevitable path to extinction if urgent steps are not taken to check desperate, divisive, and selfish tendencies”.

The group argued that this is in line with the principles of fairness, inclusion, and federal character, especially after eight years of northern leadership under President Muhammadu Buhari.

They called on the party leadership to make an unequivocal pronouncement in this regard, to demonstrate commitment to justice and equity.

The stakeholders stressed that only the National Convention can remove Anyanwu, and that all official party correspondences, including notices to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), must be issued jointly by the Acting National Chairman and Senator Anyanwu.

Any such notice not issued by him, they emphasized, “is null and void and of no effect whatsoever.”

The stakeholders concluded by pledging their unwavering commitment to the PDP and called on all party members to respect the rule of law, support constitutional leadership, and resist any divisive schemes aimed at destabilizing the party.

They also expressed confidence in the efforts of the National Reconciliation Committee, chaired by former Senate President Senator Bukola Saraki.
