Extreme Heat : Medical Expert Advises Nigs To Stay Hydrated

todayMarch 16, 2025

Background

A medical expert has emphasized the importance of staying hydrated and monitoring body temperature amid the ongoing extreme heat conditions.

Dr. Funmi Onifade gave the advise at the Living Faith Church, Lokongoma, Lokoja, where she educated the people on the health risks associated with the hot weather.

She advised Nigerians to drink plenty of water, limit sun exposure, wear light clothing, and stay in well-ventilated areas to reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses.

Dr. Onifade highlighted common heat-related health issues such as dizziness, dehydration, weakness, rapid heartbeat, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke, noting that the elderly and young children are particularly vulnerable.

She urged anyone experiencing symptoms of heat-related diseases to seek medical attention immediately.
