NFF Appoints Finidi as Head Coach of the Super Eagles

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has confirmed the appointment of Finidi George as the Head coach of the Super Eagles following the recommendation of the NFF Technical and Development Committee.

Finidi took charge of the Super Eagles on the interim after Jose Pesiero left the role after leading Nigeria to second place at the 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Iviore.

Finidi George To Lead Super Eagles In International Friendlily Games

He ended an 18-year winless streak against the Black Stars after leading Nigeria to a 2-1 victory over Ghana in his first game in charge, but lost 2-0 to the Eagles of Mali in his second game.

The 3-time AFCON winner led Enyimba FC of Aba to the 2022/23 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL title, and the club’s 9th league title.

Finidi’s first assignment is to guide the Super Eagles to victory in the 2026 FIFA world cup qualifying games against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa and the Squirrels of Benin Republic in June.
