Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike has begun another round of projects inspection on the first day of resumption of work after the Sallah celebration.

The first point of call by the Minister and his entourage was the Kwali- Unity Bank road under construction and the Yangoji -Sukuku-Ebo- road to ascertain the level of work done so far.

Wike who explained that the unannounced visits to the projects site was to ensure that the jobs were going on smoothly according to specifications, however urged contractors handling the Kwali road projects to expedite action for timely delivery.

“I want to appeal to the contractor especially Gilmor, I know that they have a lot of jobs at hand, but again they should expedite action so that they will be able to finish as they promised” Wike said.

According to the FCT Minister, President Tinubu is determined to make the people at the grassroots feel the impact of his Government through provision of infrastructure that would alleviate the plight of residents.

Wike noted that the Ebo – Sukuku Yangoji roads,,when completed would enable the farmers to convey their farm produce to the market with ease, adding that development should not only be concentrated in the city centre alone.

According to the FCT Minister, where there are no accessible roads, even the security personnel may not be able to perform optimally, as evident in the difficult topography of the Yangoji area.

“Understanding where we are coming from, now just imagine that people were kidnapped, how will the security personnel have access to this kind of area? The topography alone is difficult”

Wike thanked the Kwali Area Council Chairman, Danladi Chiya for constantly visiting the sites to monitor work progress, and urged him not to hesitate to report any anomalies noticed.

Wike expressed satisfaction on the level of work done so far, and pointed out that he was happy to see that the desires of the rural dwellers were being met under President Tinubu’s administration.

“Development cannot only be concentrated in the city but we have to take development to rural areas that alone can mitigate the rural urban migration”.

“So, creating the infrastructure, particularly road here is key to the development of this community, that is the essence of Renewed Hope Agenda. That it is not just for those in the city but for rural dwellers too to benefit from the dividends of democracy. For me, I feel delighted because we are taking development to rural areas.

“We went to the Kwali bridge, how many years the bridge has been abandoned? People were cut off, no where to go to, see how happy the people were, and before December this year, it will be commissioned that is what people are looking for. This will make them have a feeling that there is government in FCT.”

On his part, the Managing Director, Gilmor Engineering Limited, Eli-Goldhar who promised to deliver the Yangoji -Sukuku-Ebo-road before December, 2024, told Wike that the middle of the road that would have been the difficult aspect
had been handled professionally.
