2024 FCT School Sports Festival Set To Kick Off

More details have emerged on the 2024 FCT School Sports Festival, scheduled to begin on Thursday, February 22, 2024; at eight designated centers.

Abaji, Kwali, Tungan-maje Gwagwalada, Kuje, Tudun Wada, Karshi and Dutse.

According to the Media Coordinator of the fiesta, Chinedum Ohanusi; the competition has been classified into three categories; that’s
Primary Schools; Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools.

Primary School pupils will complete in the following events:
Track/Sprints; that’s for Boys and Girls 100m, 200m, 400m, 4×100 relays & Mixed Relays.

Field Events; Long Jump & High Jump.

Football (Boys only)

The competition at the Junior Secondary Schools Category, will also feature Track Events (Boys & Girls); 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 4×100 & 4×400 Relays
as well as mixed relays. And for
Field events there will be; Long Jump, High Jump, Javelin, Football, Volleyball and
Handball.

Senior Secondary School category will showcase the following Track Events; 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 5000m, 4×100
& 4×400 Relays & Mixed Relays.

For Field Events are; Long Jump, High Jump, Shotput, Javelin, Football,
Volleyball and Handball. Others are Badminton, Basketball and Table Tennis
Board games: that’s Chess, Scrabble, Ludo & Ayo (all the categories).

The Zonal or preliminary phase ends on March 2nd, and their shall be a break from March 4-9; whilst the finalé, which will feature the winners at the Zones, will hold at the Main Bowl of the MKO Abiola National Stadium Abuja, and its adjoining facilities; from March 11-14,
2024.
