To further strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI is partnering the Nigeria Police Force to revolutionize and enhance management of police workshops nationwide.
Signing the partnership agreement at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Khalil Halilu, highlighted the critical role of the Nigeria Police in ensuring the safety of lives and property.
He further emphasized the need to modernize police vehicle maintenance workshops nationwide for the recovery, repair, and reactivation of non-operational police vehicles, given the dependence on vehicles and transport assets for effective response to security threats.
According to him, President Bola Tinubu’s governing agenda prioritizes strengthening national security, a goal echoed by NASENI’s commitment to contributing to national security and emphasizing the agency’s role in science and engineering infrastructure.
Halilu outlined the numerous benefits stemming from this collaboration, including improved security with a better-equipped Police Force, support for Nigeria’s climate action goals through the adoption of cleaner vehicle technologies, bolstering local content initiatives, job creation, and the potential for commercial returns through revamped workshops.
On his part, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who described the collaboration as timely, said this would go a long way in helping the Force achieve its mandate.
He also reiterated the commitment of the Force to continue providing the needed safe and enabling environment for the nation’s socio-economic development.
