The Commander General of Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service, NHFSS, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin has condemned the killing of two Ekiti Traditional Rulers on Monday by suspected bandits.
The traditional rulers are, the Elesun of Esun Ekiti and Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti.
They were attacked alongside the Alara of Ara Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba who however escaped death while they were travelling on the Oke-Ako Road in Ikole Local Government Area on their way back from a security meeting at Irele Ekiti.
Speaking with newsmen in Abuja on the ugly development, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin who is also an indigene of Ekiti State described the incident as very unfortunate and barbaric.
He also condemned the abduction of some school children in the State and described the situation as unacceptable.
While expressing concern over the activities of bandits, kidnappers and some bad elements who are taking advantage of forests in the State to perpetrate evil, the Commander General of NHFSS called for proper investigation into the killings and abduction towards bringing the perpetrators to book.
He used the opportunity to appeal to President Bola Tinubu to sign the NHFSS Bill before him into law to give adequate backing to Officers and men of the Service in ridding the forests in the State of bandits, kidnappers and other criminals.
According to him, the signing of the Bill into law will equally strengthen the security apparatus of the country and enhance the security of lives and property not only in Ekiti State but Nigeria in general.
He stated that NHFSS had already put in place necessary structures nationwide and the Service has been complementing the efforts of formal security Agencies in the fight against insecurity in the country.
Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin therefore pledged the support of NHFSS in realizing the security agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s led administration towards achieving his renewed hope agenda for nigerians.
